As someone who has dabbled in website building for as long as there has been the web as we know it, I have been designing and maintaining websites with no formal training for previous employers as what started as a novelty and interest and ended up as a responsibility. As job duties evolved, I didn't keep up with changes in coding until I had an opportunity to attend a General Assembly Boot Camp sponsored by an initiative by TechBuffalo in 2021. During that 10 week session, I relearned HTML, got up to speed on CSS and even learned a bit about Javascript. We learned proper design and thinking mobile first as well as deployed our projects via github. From there, I took a few more classes on Responsive Design from Kevin Powell as well as a self led course introductory course from General Assembly in UX Design. I feel I have only scratched the surface here. My desire isn't to program as much as it is to design and do layout but I feel these skills are invaluable skills to have in any tech related field.
