The opportunity to volunteer on a weekly basis in a working wildlife care facility in Holland, NY. Operating as a functioning animal care facility since 2003, Messinger Woods provided a perfect opportunity to learn from other rehabbers with years of experience as well as function on teams of animal lovers to provide care and eventual release to creatures in need of care throughout WNY. The center operates June 1 through then end of September. Songbirds, birds of prey, waterfowl and small mammals are all typical residents at Messinger Woods. Hundreds of creatures are rehabilitated and released each season and I am proud to be a very small part of that process.
